The burden of cancer is estimated to be increasing in Nepal, whilst the country lacks national established guidelines, awareness and trained human resources in cancer prevention and treatment.

There are a number of challenges for preventing, controlling and reporting cancer in Nepal.. There are no population-based national records from the government, and cancer treatment facilities are inadequately resourced. Especially in the western part of the country has even worse situation.

Developing of cancer control and prevention policies are essential to decrease the cancer burden in Nepal.
